In mankind's arrogance in its ability to defend itself against all threats, the stage is set for their destruction at the hands of this secret enemy. Interview with Zyra Zanr of the Rogue Hunter series.

Shelly: Hello, everyone. My name is Shelly Hart, senior reporter for IGAN News. I want to thank you for joining us and our very special guest. Today we have with us, Zyra Zanr, intergalactic bounty hunter. Welcome Ms. Zanr. You’re a very difficult woman to catch up with. I suppose the nature of your line of work keeps you on the go.
Zyra: You can say that.
Shelly: Perhaps we should start with something easy. Can you tell us your age?
Zyra: Why is it important?
Shelly: I’m the one asking the questions, Ms. Zanr. Now how old are you?
Zyra: Somewhere between 1 and 100, I guess.
Shelly: That isn’t very nice, Ms. Zanr.
Zanr: Neither is asking a woman her age.
Shelly: Touché. But you’ll understand that everyone is talking about you since the Battle of New Venus. Some people are saying that you had a direct hand in starting the war between the InterGalactic Alliance and the Legion of Worlds.
Zyra: What do you think?
Shelly: I think its nonsense. You’re just one woman. But as sensational as the rumors are, many people believe it.
Zyra: Then it wouldn’t make a real difference what I say, now would it?
Shelly: You might have a point. May I ask you another personal question?
Zyra: If I said no, would that stop you from asking?
Shelly: Not really. But I thought you might appreciate a bit of common courtesy. Something which you don’t seem concerned with showing to my viewers. So far you haven’t answered any of my questions, so let’s try this again. You’re a very mysterious woman. Very little is known about you other than the fact that you were once a prospect for the military. Why all the secrecy?
Zyra: Maybe there isn’t much to tell.
Shelly: Or could it be that you’re hiding something you don’t want others to know about? Something that might embarrass or even endanger you?
Zyra: Take your pick.
Shelly: I’ll accept that as a yes. You’re quite young to be in the trade of hunting criminals. Usually it’s a job for older, more seasoned people who have made a career in law enforcement. Can you tell us what made you decide to become a bounty hunter?
Zyra: I heard the job paid well and I needed money.
Shelly: That’s it? Nothing mysterious? Or romantic?
Zyra: I know what it’s like to be hungry. I don’t ever want to feel like that again. How’s that for romantic?
Shelly: So you never felt a calling to a higher purpose? To help out your fellow man and make the universe a safer place?
Zyra: No.
Shelly: Well, I think that certainly destroys the mystique of you being on the side of good, doesn’t it?
Zyra: I don’t see how that’s a problem.
Shelly: Well, you do have your young fans to consider, don’t you? You know, the ones who look up to you?
Zyra: If someone is looking to me to be a role model, they need to have higher standards.
Shelly: For once, I agree with you, Ms. Zanr. Perhaps, we should move on to more interesting questions. Do you have a family?
Zyra: No.
Shelly: No mother or father? Siblings?
Zyra: I said no.
Shelly: What about a lover? Don’t you have someone waiting to tuck you in after a long day’s work?
Zyra: There isn’t time for romance when you’re up to your neck in scum.
Shelly: It sounds as if you lead a very lonely life.
Zyra: It is what is.
Shelly: You’re also a woman of few words, I see.
Zyra: I don’t have much use for them.
Shelly: Action speaks louder than words, is that it?
Zyra: In my line of work, words don’t get results.
Shelly: I see. Tell me, Ms. Zanr. Are you a happy person?
Zyra: Define happy.
Shelly: Let me put it another way. Do you ever wake up thinking how fabulous it is to be you?
Zyra: Every day of my life.
Shelly: You don’t sound serious.
Zyra: And you’re smarter than you look.
Shelly: Hitting below the belt, aren’t we?
Zyra: Call it a lucky shot.
Shelly: Do you believe in God, Ms. Zanr?
Zyra: I’m not sure how to answer that.
Shelly: A yes or no answer will suffice.
Zyra: Then the answer is No.
Shelly: Why not?
Zyra: Because I don’t. Do you have another question?
Shelly: Actually, I have one final question for you, Ms. Zanr. You shouldn’t have any problem answering it. What is your biggest fear?
Zyra: Is this a trick question?
Shelly: No tricks. I’m just curious.
Zyra: Failure. That’s my biggest fear.
Shelly: Can you explain?
Zyra: I may not believe in God, Ms. Hart. But I do think we all have a purpose. I never want to fail at anything I do, because then I’m not being who I’m supposed to be. Get it?
Shelly: And who are you supposed to be, Ms. Zanr?
(Zyra remains silent and the interview ends…)

My review of book 3. Rogue Hunter Life Force
With this exciting third entry, the Rogue Hunter series sheds its skin and gives us an intimate look into the life of the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy…

THE ULTIMATE SIN.

While resting at Space Station Phoenix, Zyra Zanr comes down with a mysterious sickness. She meets Ryan Grant, the station doctor. Fearing that she is dying of a terminal disease, Zyra turns to Ryan for support. But things spiral out of control and their budding friendship explodes into a full-blown romance.

Their tryst inflames the wrath of Ryan's jealous wife, ultimately leading to betrayal and murder. Even as her health worsens, Zyra's uncontrollable desire for Ryan takes her down a dark path of unbridled sensuality that threatens the destruction of her very soul.

LIFE FORCE is the most powerful Rogue Hunter novel yet. Kevis Hendrickson has taken the series to a whole new level
Paperback, 510 pages
Published February 20th 2014

The third book in the Rogue Hunter series really throws us for some loops. I was caught a little off guard with how much of the story was focused on her sex life. I would go so far as to saying it's a little risque crossing into the erotica zone in several scenes. A little more descriptive scenes than I would normally read.

This series amazing, the world building and characters are so well done that I just cannot get enough of this series. Zyra has a lot of ups and downs in this story. She gets sick and falls in love. Along with this whirlwind romance comes a lot of vulnerability from Zyra. I even felt that we lose a bit of the Zyra we have grown to know and see her having to crawl her way out of an emotional hole that has taken a toll on her.

Zyra still shows her bad ass side with not only being sick, in a roller coaster relationship, but also being hunted by hired killers. Several plot twists and harsh situations that come along with both. She still manages to find her way through things with a lot of action, and heartbreak.

The writing is spot on when it comes to getting the readers emotionally invested in the story. There were times I was so upset that I had to stop reading for awhile and I really felt for the relationships, both good and bad that occur in this book.

I recommend this series 100% as a very well written, plotted, and high paced space opera. It's a series that I have added to my automatic to-buy list because I know each new edition will be an amazing, entertaining and enjoyable read.

Remember! If you are interested in the series to comment below for a chance to win all 3 ebooks!  And SOUNDTRACK  If you love strong female bad ass lead characters this is a series I wouldn't let pass you by. (GIVEAWAY CLOSED, WINNER CHOSEN)

Interview and Review: Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy #1) by Danielle L. Jensen

Young Adult, High Fantasy, Magic, Romance, Witches_

For those who have loved Seraphina and Graceling comes another truly fabulous fantasy...

For five centuries, a witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

Cécile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.

But something unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.

As Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever

When Cécile is suddenly snatched from the road and taken deep beneath a mountain. She is introduced to the Trolls of Trollus. Cécile has not only been taken prisoner, but soon learns she is to be wed to the prince. The longer she stays in Trollus, the more she gets to know the people, politics, magic and even finds friends.
Cécile grows to become a very strong willed character throughout the book. As she begins to feel torn between the people of Trollus and her family above. With the signs of rebellion, Cécile and Tristan soon find they are on the same side and become closer.
My favorite part of the book was the world building. I loved traveling even further beneath the mountain into the mines and the labyrinth. The descriptions of the gardens, waters and palace are those of a fairytale and that is what really made the story for me.
After five centuries the trolls are about to have their whole world change before their eyes. Cécile and Tristan have people to fight for, and are willing to give up everything for. So the big question is...what will happen next!?
I had a great time reading this book, it was a fun, imaginative and like losing yourself in a whole new world. Great characters, writing and a magical world that shows both the beautiful and the ugly. I recommend it!

Danielle was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. At the insistence of the left side of her brain, she graduated in 2003 from the University of Calgary with a bachelor’s degree in finance. But the right side of her brain has ever been mutinous; and in 2010, it sent her back to school to complete an entirely impractical English literature degree at Mount Royal University and to pursue publication. Much to her satisfaction, the right side shows no sign of relinquishing its domination.

An Interview with Author Danielle L Jensen

1.  If you could spend one day in Trollus, where would you spend the majority of it, and why? (the garden, labyrinth, palace, etc.)
The glass gardens when they are all lit up, because I think they are the most romantic and magical place in Trollus.

2. Which of the following people would you choose to direct/produce the movie of Stolen Songbird: Jim Henson, Chris Columbus, or Peter Jackson?
Peter Jackson, because I love how he treats fantasy worlds.

3. The world of Trollus is very detailed and complex. At any time during the writing period did you have to draw a map of the city to help visualize the setting? If so will you be making the map available online?
I have zero artistic skills, so making a map myself has never been in the cards. I think some people find maps really helpful for understanding fantasy worlds, while others just flip by them. Unfortunately for those who are the former, I am the latter. I can close my eyes and visualize Trollus quite easily, and I’ve hopefully done a reasonable job describing that vision within the story. As to whether something would be designed and made available online or in subsequent volumes, that remains to be seen. It would be cool, but such things cost money.
Krista, I know you were particularly interested in what the palace looked like. I envisioned it as a smaller, two story version of Versailles, complete with all the gardens. Trollus is located in what was once a valley, so everything would be terraced rather than flat.

4. Best break from writing: Food Binge, Television Binge, or Music Binge?

Don’t even tease me! I haven’t had a break in so long.... But if I had a choice, it would be a combination food/television binge.

5. Best idea for comicon costume: Sluag, Pure Blood Troll, Magical Princess Cecile
It would be hot and cumbersome, but I’d go as one of the sluag. I like costumes where your identity is concealed. But it might be fun to go as the Queen/Duchesse. Or Anaïs, because she has the best dresses.

6. I heard you like Dragons and would like one of your own in the land of Pern. Have you considered writing a story with Dragons? If no, tell us a little about what your working on next?
I love dragons so much, especially the ones from Pern! I haven’t considered writing a story purely about dragons mostly because I’ve never had a story idea that does them justice. That said, you observant types might have noticed there is a statue of a dragon in Trollus... Just saying.
As to what I’m working on right now, my time is utterly consumed with writing book 2 in The Malediction Trilogy.
